About the course
PCIT is a two-phase therapeutic approach designed to: ▫ enhance a secure attachment between parent and child, ▫ and reduce behaviors that interfere with daily functioning in the education setting. Educators/professionals learn how to be compassionate and firm authority figures with their children by giving directions in an age- appropriate, positive ways; setting consistent limits; harnessing the power of attention, and learning how to use alternative methods to decrease undesirable behavior

Ashley Scudder, PCIT International Certified Regional Trainer
Dr. Ashley Scudder is a licensed clinical psychologist and a PCIT International-certified regional trainer. Her clinical and research interests are focused on ways in which evidence-based treatments are tailored or adapted to potentially improve their impact or reach, including 1) understanding community-based service systems, 2) developing and testing implementation models, and 3) adapting and testing existing evidence-based treatments to novel populations or community settings (e.g., autism, schools, primary care, domestic violence shelters, corrections). She has been providing clinical consultation to community based PCIT clinicians for the past 10 years and has now trained more than 300 hundred professionals across 7 states in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy as part of large-scale initiatives. Dr. Scudder currently serves on the PCIT International Task Force on Policy and Advocacy. She has served as the associate Director of Research and Outreach for the University Translational Research Network (ISU U-TURN) and is currently a research scientist at the Partnerships for Prevention Sciences Institute at Iowa State University where she serves as Principal Investigator/ Project Director on several PCIT- related research and implementation projects including Fostering Resilient Rural Elementary Schools through an Evidence-Based Multi-component System Supporting Teachers and Students across the Risk Spectrum, Creating Communities PCIT, and Parent-Child Interaction Training for Providers Serving Caregivers with Corrections Involvement.

Jaclynn Kuchta, PhD., NCSP
Jaclynn Kuchta, PhD., NCSP, earned her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Duquesne University. She is a Licensed Psychologist, Nationally Certified School Psychologist, and the Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) Program Manager at Pathways Transition Programs, Inc. Clinically, Dr. Kuchta's areas of focus include early childhood disruptive behavior disorders, early childhood trauma, and consultation/collaboration with early care and education, as well as with community implementation of evidence-based treatments. She has a particular interest in PCIT and its adaptation with teachers (Teacher-Child Interaction Training - TCIT), and is currently in the process of pursuing her PCIT Regional Trainer Certification. Her research interests include community implementation of evidenced-based interventions, specifically the implementation of PCIT and TCIT. Dr Kuchta can be contacted at [email protected]
